Hello!
My name is Hannah Big and I am a mother to a 4 year old with level 2 autism. My spouse and I live in Bremerton, WA and he is often doing Navy business, and I do school full-time while raising our son. I love video games and going hiking with my son (he can seriously go for miles!)
My passion for autism awareness started when I worked as a Preschool Teacher, and I wanted to make my classroom more inclusive- sign language, sensory toys, etc. It then solidified with my son’s diagnosis, and navigating the world of IEPs, therapies, EFMP- you name it!
One thing I have noticed as a mother and primary caregiver, is that while autism is becoming more widely understood, society has not been adapting to those with autism.
My goal is to partner with my community to promote autism-friendly spaces, raise awareness and help low-income families with their child’s sensory needs. Doctors offices, libraries, grocery stores- people with autism deserve to exist in all of these places and I hope to be apart of the change!
